Life at Conception Act (S. 91)

Dear Senator Casey & Senator Toomey,

While a number of pro life individuals are doubting that Senator Casey shares our values (See the forwarded email below.), I hope that you will both co-sponsor and fully support the Life at Conception Act (S. 91), which makes clear that "The terms ‘human person’ and ‘human being’ include each and every member of the species homo sapiens at all stages of life, including, but not limited to, the moment of fertilization, cloning, and other moment at which an individual member of the human species comes into being."

Sincerely,

Senate Votes on Repeal

Dear Friend of CV,

We got our vote.

Last night, Senate Republicans successfully forced a vote on the repeal of Obamacare. The result – 47 votes to repeal vs. 51 votes to keep the disastrous law.

Some called this vote merely symbolic. We call it evidence.

We pushed hard for this vote regardless of the expected outcome because voters deserve to know exactly where their elected officials stand – especially after last November. Three months ago we sent our leaders in Washington a message – stop spending, stop funding abortion, and start coming up with new ways to help our country that don’t involve massive new counterproductive government programs that we can’t afford.

Apparently not every Senator got the message.

In fact, 23 Senators who voted again for Obamacare will face the voters 2012. Their vote on Wednesday will not be forgotten.

Yet, some of our members continue to misunderstand our position. “Isn’t healthcare for all a good thing?” Yes, we share that goal! But how we accomplish that goal remains the key question.

A massive new government-first solution is not the only way to achieve reform on healthcare – or the solution to many of the troublesome domestic issues facing our country. The alternatives to Obamacare are not as easy to explain, because they involve unleashing the creativity, innovation, and charity of citizens instead of bureaucrats (including big insurance company bureaucrats!).

Call us naïve, but we think Americans are capable of coming up with something better. We need a new framework for solving our healthcare needs that puts power in the hands of consumers (you and me) that will result in lower costs, better care, and – healthcare for all.

Some economists have remarked that the earth’s greatest resource is the human person. Using our intelligence and hard work, we have managed to innovate and lower the cost of nearly every product and service Americans need. And if the costs of some things are still too high, you can bet new ways are being explored, tested, and risked to bring those costs down. Food, energy, clothing, housing, you name it.

So why is health care any different? Simple: Because Big Government and Big Insurance are stifling real change.

Politicians who boast of the virtues of Obamacare are really saying something insulting. In sum, they believe we Americans are too stupid, irresponsible, and cannot be trusted to make the right decisions with our money. In short – we aren’t good enough to be free.

We disagree. This creative power of freedom is what makes America great.

And why we intend to fight on to keep it so.

Sincerely,

Brian Burch, President

P.S. While we will continue to argue that a full repeal of Obamacare is critical, we will press forward with efforts to strip the law of abortion funding and its other onerous provisions.

On that front, a new video released this week shows an employee at a Planned Parenthood clinic in New Jersey advising private undercover investigators on how to run their phony prostitution business and provide abortions to underage girls. Remember, Planned Parenthood receives over $300 million in taxpayer funding every year, and stands to gain big time from Obamacare funding! We must de-fund Planned Parenthood now.

We strongly encourage you to learn more about this undercover investigation and what you can do about it on a special webcast tonight at 8:30 p.m. EST. Check it out at ExposePlannedParenthood.org.
