Dear Congressman Fitzpatrick, Senator Casey, & Senator Twomey,
In the December 21st issue of the Bucks County Courier Times, a guest opinion writer suggested that "Planned Parenthood's use of tax money deserves scrutiny," maintaining that there had been minimal media coverage of Planned Parenthood's "grossly overcharging the federal government and/or states for contraception and other services." As you are no doubt aware, a video is currently being circulated by LiveAction.org of what appears to constitute illegal activity at a Planned Parenthood in nearby Shrewsbury, New Jersey (Monmouth County). I am hereby requesting that you support efforts to immediately freeze all funding of Planned Parenthood.
In its in its annual report, the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) acknowledges $1.2 billion in total assets (p. 28) and $1.1 billion in annual revenue from "Health Center Income," "Government Grants and Contracts," "Private Contributions and Requests," "Support from Affiliates," and "Other Operating Revenue" (p. 29). Upon introducing HR 217, the Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act, Rep. Mike Pence noted that
- "It is morally wrong to end an unborn human life by abortion. It is also morally wrong to take the taxpayer dollars of millions of pro-life Americans and use them to promote abortion at home or abroad. Last year, Planned Parenthood received more than $363 million in revenue from government grants and contracts. During that same time, they performed an unprecedented 324,008 abortions."
I request that you support HR 217 and its senate counterpart, as well as all efforts to end funding for Planned Parenthood.
Sincerely,
